Live Class Schedule

Sheila is now holding her live classes at Frequency Wellness Space at 34 Elton St. If you haven’t attended in a while, we welcome you back. Bring a friend and enjoy the spacious fully equipped studio, a reception area/ kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea and plenty of camaraderie.

Your weekly classes will incorporate accessible movement practices that draw from the classic Hatha Yoga tradition (Vedic/Indian) as well as Yin Yoga and Qigong based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine model (TCM) and Thomas Hanna based somatic movement. It is Sheila's belief that there are 3 tenets of a fully engaged life that reach out exponentially to create community and connection- These tenets are healthy movement , good nutrition and a willingness to give yourself permission to rest.

We move, we practice stillness and breath. There is often a sprinkling of poetry and story. Your weekly classes will strengthen mobility, enhance your immune system, cultivate balance (body and mind) and increase your resilience and creativity. Connect with a like minded community. Say hello to YOU!

These classes are appropriate for all levels. (Note from Sheila “I love teaching beginners!)

Winter Practices: Honor the Water Element

As winter settles over Rochester with its long nights and quiet mornings, we turn our focus to the Water element, a symbol of deep rest, wisdom, and inner strength. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), winter is the season of Water, governed by the Kidneys and Urinary Bladder. This season invites us to slow down, conserve energy, and nurture our deepest reserves. Our practices this winter will honor the Water element, helping us align with nature’s rhythms of stillness, restoration, and quiet renewal.

The Water Element in Winter

Yin Organ: Kidneys

The Kidneys are considered the root of life in TCM. They store our deepest energy (Jing), guide our resilience, nourish the bones, and support clarity, willpower, and longevity. In winter, the Kidneys call us to rest more deeply, tend our inner well, and reconnect with the quiet wisdom within. When honored, they help us meet life with steadiness, courage, and a grounded sense of trust.

Yang Organ: Urinary Bladder

The Urinary Bladder governs the distribution and regulation of our energy reserves. It supports the ebb and flow of vitality throughout the day and helps us maintain balance when external demands are high. In winter, this organ encourages pacing, mindful movement, gentle warmth, and the art of replenishing rather than overextending. It teaches us to honor boundaries—energetic, emotional, and physical.

What You Can Expect This Winter

❄️ Movement & Breathwork
Our winter practices will emphasize slow, nourishing movement, postures that gently warm the low back and kidneys, and breathwork designed to calm the nervous system. We’ll move with steadiness and intention, supporting the body’s natural instinct to conserve energy and replenish its deepest reserves.

🌙 Mindful Practices for the Season
To balance the quiet, inward qualities of winter, we’ll incorporate grounding shapes, fluid qigong movements, and meditative breathwork that soothe the Water element. Restorative postures, supported forward folds, and Yoga Nidra will help strengthen Kidney energy, release fatigue, and cultivate inner warmth and ease.

🌊 Rest, Resilience & Inner Strength
As Water invites rest and soft determination, our practices will foster steadiness of mind and clarity of spirit. Whether in the studio or online, we’ll create a space for deep restoration, reflection, and quiet renewal—an opportunity to honor the wisdom that comes from stillness and to rebuild strength from the inside out.Seven Seeds Movement for Life
