FAQ: Year of Elemental Rest – Yoga Nidra Course
🌙 What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra—often called yogic sleep—is a deeply restorative, meditative journey through layers of body, breath, sensation, emotion, imagery, and awareness. It gently shifts you into slower brainwave states where rest, repair, and inner clarity naturally arise.
This is not a practice of effort. It is a soft returning—to rest, to listening, to your own inner wisdom.
🌱 What is a Sankalpa?
A Sankalpa is a heartfelt intention—a vow spoken from your deepest truth.
It is expressed in the present tense, as though it is already alive within you.
Examples:
I am steady.
I am softening.
I trust the unfolding of my life.
During Yoga Nidra, the mind becomes deeply receptive, allowing your Sankalpa to imprint new pathways of clarity, purpose, and self-trust.
🍂 What does a practice session look like?
Each monthly gathering follows the rhythm of the season:
📖 Seasonal teaching
A short introduction to the month’s element—its qualities, organs, emotions, and guiding wisdom.🌀 Qigong honoring the element
Gentle, fluid movements to open the channels and prepare the body for stillness.🛏️ A full guided Yoga Nidra
You settle into deep rest while I guide you through breath, sensation, imagery, and intention aligned with the season’s medicine.
And yes—every session is recorded for your ongoing support.
😴 What if I fall asleep during Yoga Nidra?
It’s completely normal.
Sometimes sleep is the first layer of healing that needs to happen. Even if you drift off, your body and subconscious mind still receive the benefits.
With time and repetition, you’ll find yourself resting in that liminal state—awake, yet deeply surrendered.
🔥 How do I maintain a regular Yoga Nidra practice?
A consistent practice is one of the most meaningful acts of self-honoring.
Yoga Nidra helps create neural patterns of commitment. Each time you return to your mat, you reinforce the inner message:
I matter.
My rest matters.
I choose spaciousness.
Ways to stay committed:
🔗 Link it to a daily ritual (tea, bedtime, returning home)
⏳ Start small (5–10 minutes counts)
🌿 Let the seasonal themes guide you
🤝 Lean into the group energy—community creates momentum
💗 Be gentle with yourself—if you drift from the practice, simply begin again
Over time, your body begins to crave this kind of rest—and the practice becomes its own invitation.
