Radical Rest Sunday's - A Monthly offering of Quiet Practice

Spirit Loft - RadicalRestSundays - Insta_edited-1.jpg

A monthly Pop-Up to slow down, cultivate quiet and give yourself permission to rest. The word radical comes from the 14th century Latin word meaning “going to the origin, essential”. Rest has its root in Old English, meaning “intermission of labour, mental peace”. So there you have it…Radical Rest = Essential Mental Peace!

Join us for some playful, restful surprises – each month offering a different possibility of quiet self-care practices that cultivate intention, reconnection and replenishment for the weeks ahead. Radical Rest Sunday’s may include, somatic movement, self-massage, restorative yoga, acupressure. Each Sunday ends with a unique Yoga Nidra practice.

Participants will receive a recording of the monthly Yoga Nidra to revisit at their leisure...Until we meet again.

We love the 4 seasons in this part of the world and we are often sad to say goodbye to the natural qualities that each season evokes in us . Or bodies recognize the season shift often before our pre-frontal cortex does. Preparing the body for these shifts and changes creates resiliency and connection. Our smarty pants brain begins to grow new neural networks based on our intentions and life practices.. This gives us an “ essential body bank account” to draw from when feeling depleted. In the triad of healthy living which includes good nutrition, functional movement and REST- the latter is the sadly forgotten comrade. We are literally in a sleep and rest crisis according to the World Health Organization. Let’s change the paradigm! Let’s start a Radical Rest Revolution!

$30 Pre-registered/$35 drop-in- (plus HST) Pending available space. ** THIS EVENT SELLS OUT! We have limited space so please make sure to register ahead of time to avoid disappointment. We truly dislike having to turn people away at the door.

Registration policy: Please note that this event requires pre-registration to secure your spot as space is limited. We do not offer refunds, credits or exchanges for cancellations or no shows.

Meeting the Wanderer

Meeting the Wanderer aka
The Vagus Nerve

A Radical Rest Workshop

The Vagus nerve also knows as “The Wanderer” is the largest and most extensive nerve in the human body. It is connected to almost every major organ and gland in your body. This “Holy Grail” of the Parasympathetic Nervous system (REST & Digest!) is also the kissing comrade to the ancient subtle body map of the yogis, the Chakra energy system. Learning to stimulate the Vagus nerve is akin to the reset button for counteracting the effects of chronic stress/ anxiety and depression and the resulting  Dis-ease.

Through movement, play, breath, toning and Yoga Nidra you will have an opportunity to:

 ·      Befriend your inner wanderer  & learn what balance and imbalance look like.

 ·      Learn the all-important Gut/Brain connection ( the home of all your feel good hormones!)

·      Learn practical take home tools for continued  self-support.

 ·      Be introduced to the vagus nerve/ chakra connection (and why you should care!)

·      Give yourself  permission for Deep & Radical Rest .

About Sheila Cullen:

Sheila is long time advocate of learning and living the gifts of Quiet Practice and deep rest. In the Holy Triad of Exercise, Nutrition and Rest- she feels Rest is the “lonely forgotten child”  in a world that awards “Busy “ as a badge of honour.  Her Radical Rest series of workshops and trainings are one person’s quest to change the landscape of Western Culture’s view and  to support a powerful  paradigm shift for creating  rich connection, compassion and enhanced creativity.

Saturday April 6 2-5pm.  Cost $75      Pre-registration required.
